Pre Academic Preparation Programme (PA)

Pre Academic Preparation Art Portfolio

If a student’s level of English does not allow them to immediately progress onto their desired course i.e. A Levels or University Foundation Programme, they may be advised to take the PA course. This programme is designed to raise the students’ level of English to that needed for academic success.

This course has flexible start dates: the beginning of the September, January or April terms. Students on the one-year option also have the opportunity to take a Cambridge KET or PET exam.

The course consists of language improvement plus academic study, which includes: AS introductory mathematics and an introduction to economics, science or portfolio art & design.

The inclusion of academic subjects exposes students to appropriate terminology and concepts. Those students who choose the Art & Design route will produce a portfolio of art suitable for future A Level studies. The further 20 hours of English language focus on the following areas: current affairs, business English, study skills, literature, presentations, drama, pronunciation and academic writing.
