Summer 2012 GCSE Results

Bosworth 2012 GCSE results exceeded the National Average (NA) with 85% of students gaining A*-C grades with the NA at 69% and A*/ A grades at 45% whilst the NA is set at 22%.

At Bosworth Independent College we offer a one year or a two year GCSE programme for students aged 14-16.

In September 2010 we introduced a two year GCSE scholarship for gifted students. Emma-Jane Faulkner was part of this cohort and at the end of her second year at GCSE, Emma-Jane achieved A*AAAAABB in Chemistry, Physics, Maths, English Language, Geography, History, French and English Literature respectively.

Adrian Thacker (GCSE Course Director) is extremely happy with this year’s GCSE results:

‘Emma’s results were no great surprise to us, she is a talented and hard-working student who got what she deserved, as did all of our GCSE students.’

Emma-Jane is continuing with us for A Level and has chosen the following subjects: Chemistry, Physics, History and Geography and we look forward to tracking her progression to university.

Our aim at Bosworth is to offer gifted students a two year GCSE scholarship and then retain this scholarship across another two years for A Level study. By doing this our hope is for the student to achieve the best advice on their future pathway and to gain a place at a top 25 university.

With the current competitiveness for university places; both A Level and GCSE results will become increasingly important in the application process.

Bosworth will hold a GCSE scholarship test on the 12th February 2012. If your child is currently in Year 9 and would like to sit the test, please contact us on 01604 235 090.
