We are very proud of the five students mentioned here as they have had to beat strong competition to gain these offers. Mrs Shelia Underwood (A2 Course Director) guides students through the UCAS process and Mrs Alison Lewis (A2 Assistant Course Director) co-ordinates and supports the Oxbridge group, Mr Alan Mawer and Mrs Claire Peck also play a vital role in this preparation.

GCSE Results and Scholarship Test

At Bosworth Independent College we offer a one year and a two year GCSE programme for students aged 14-16. Bosworth’s 2011 GCSE results exceeded the National average with 92.5% of students gaining A*-C grades with the National average at 69.8% and A*/A grades at 33.8% whilst the National average is set at 23.2%.

GCSE results 2011

In September 2010 we introduced a two year GCSE scholarship for gifted students. Simran Patel and Emma-Jane Faulkner were part of this cohort and at the end of their first year at GCSE; both students sat module exams in English Language, History and Science. Simran achieved two "a*" grades and one "a" grade, Emma-Jane achieved 1 "a*" grade and two "a" grades, a real success for each student at the end of their first year with us.

Adrian Thacker (GCSE Course Director) is extremely happy with this year’s GCSE results, particularly those from the two-year programme:

It is testimony to Emma-Jane and Simran’s hard work last year. In fact, all of the two year GCSE students worked very hard and deserved what they achieved and I am very confident they will go on to achieve equally excellent final grades next Summer."

Both girls will continue this year with a mixture of the following GCSE subjects: Chemistry, English Language & Literature, French, Geography, History, Mathematics and Physics.

Our aim at Bosworth is to offer gifted students a two year GCSE scholarship and then retain this scholarship across another two years for A Level study. By doing this our hope is for the student to achieve the best advice on their future pathway and to gain a place at a top 50 university. With the current competitiveness for university places; both A Level and GCSE results will become increasingly important in the application process.

Bosworth will hold a GCSE scholarship test on the 14th February 2012 if your child is currently in Year 9 and would like to sit the test, please contact us on 01604 235 090.

A Level Results Day at Bosworth Independent College 2011

a-level-results-2011

At a time of increasing competition for university places Bosworth Independent College is delighted with results that enable its students to attend leading universities around the country. With over 93% of the grades achieved being in the A* to C range, over 77% being
A or B, and more than 75% of students gaining at least one A grade, it is hardly surprising that the large majority will now be attending their first or insurance choice university.

Equally, in the most competitive universities A* grades are increasingly being used to differentiate between very good and excellent applicants and with 45% of our students gaining at least one A* grade, their chances of attending the very best institutions have been hugely enhanced.

Executive Principal, Mr McQuin, comments;

"With more and more students understanding the importance to their careers and life of attending an outstanding university, we realise that there is hugely increased competition for the most sought after places. It’s for this reason that we are so pleased that the co-operation and work ethic of our students and staff has produced such great results. In particular we are delighted with the fact that from the 89 students who sat their second year exams, 67 achieved at least one A grade and an astonishing 40 of them gained at least one A*."

Our top achieving A Level student Jessica Law gained three A* grades and two A grades, but astonishingly achieved this in one year. She is planning to study Accounting and Finance at Bath University.

Summer 2010 A Level Results Success

Felicity and Henry with Mr. McQuin

Bosworth Independent College’s A Level results this year remain consistently high, with over 91% of overall grades being an A, B or C and with 78% at A or B. Also, 40% of our students gained at least one A*, therefore not as inaccessible as we thought.

We are particularly proud this year of 3 of our students who took the 1 year A Level programme with each of them gaining A* in all of the subjects that they sat.

The Principal, Mr McQuin, comments:

"We all knew this year it was going to be much tougher for students to get good offers, but looking at the results we are very confident that most, if not all of our students will be studying their subject of choice next year."
