Inter-Schools Show Jumping Competition
Student Isabel Simons, better known as Issy represented Bosworth in the show jumping competition on Friday 3rd June 2011.
Issy pictured above with her horse ‘Huff and Puff’ completed the course which consisted of 12 jumps. Issy rode in the 90cm and 100cm classes.
The 90cm class is the most popular with 85 competitors taking part in the event at the College Equestrian Centre in Keysoe, Bedfordshire. A very well attended event with schools competing from as far afield as Spalding and even Eton College.
Issy was unlucky in both events with one pole down in event 1 and a one pole touch in event 2, whilst pushing for a fast overall time.
We are very proud of her performance she completed the course with style!
Art Exhibition

Bosworth Independent College Art Department is particularly pleased with this year’s Art Exhibition. Both GCSE and A Level students have displayed their work alongside their personal sketch books for all to view.
Mrs Barsby (Head of Art) has enjoyed the amount of creativity shown by this year’s candidates with each student showing a real individuality to their work. This is obviously testament to the teaching staff allowing each student to develop their own unique style.
Students throughout the year work on all initial ideas within their sketchbooks. They begin by utilising the more traditional art methods including; observational drawing, water colour, pen and ink, charcoal and pastel. Alongside working on these methods they study artists from all the main art movements.
For unit 1 the set theme was ‘natural forms’ and students begin by looking at shells, landscapes, bones and vegetables in order to develop the traditional techniques.
From the knowledge and understanding that student’s gain during the year they can then decide on which theme they wish to develop for their final piece of work.
From this year’s exhibition we can see students have been influenced by varying artists/movements; Marc Chagall, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Jasper Johns, Pop Art, Roy Litchenstein, Georgia O’Keefe, Salvador Dali, Claude Monet and the Impressionists, Vincent Van Gogh and Pablo Picasso.
Students have produced final art pieces in textiles, film, oils, acrylics, origami and mixed media. This year it has been exciting to witness the development of all the original interpretations and we are extremely proud of the work that has been produced.
