CIFE Prize Winners

CIFE Prize Winners

Bosworth Independent College is a member of an organisation called CIFE (Council for Independent Education). This is an organisation made up of 17 independent colleges in the UK, dedicated to pursuing excellence at GCSE and A Level. Every year they hold an Academic Awards Presentation at the House of Lords in London which is hosted by Baroness Perry of Southwark (former Chief Inspector of Schools).

Erika - GCSE Student Award

Erika joined us at Bosworth Independent College in September 2009 to take a one-year intensive GCSE course; she completed this successfully, achieving A* grades in all of her eight GCSE subjects, including full marks in both physics and chemistry. She achieved marks of 180/200 in English literature and 359/360 in French. This latter exam required her to translate from her second language to her fourth – her first language is Japanese but she also speaks fluent Italian! As well as this academic brilliance, Erika has a truly lovely personality - words our teachers have used to describe her include dedicated, modest and popular. Bosworth Independent College is delighted to have been involved in her education and we, like her parents, are truly proud of her achievements. Erika has now progressed onto our two year A Level programme to study: Biology, Chemistry, French & Mathematics.

Frankie - College Prize

We were delighted to be able to award Frankie the Bosworth Independent College prize. He is presently studying for a degree in chemical engineering at the University of Manchester. Frankie achieved five A grades at A level last year, four of which were A* (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths) - the subject that he achieved ‘merely’ an A grade in was his native language, Cantonese! He achieved full marks in 6 units, with an average mark of 92%. Frankie is much more than intelligent – his teachers describe him as being the perfect role model for the younger students and nothing that we, or others, asked of him was ever too much trouble. He is also remembered for his great sense of humour. Although there were very many other highly achieving students at Bosworth last year, the decision to award Frankie the college prize was unanimous.
