Bosworth Summer Ball 2009
The eighth Bosworth summer ball took place on Saturday 23rd May and was our most successful so far. Over 250 students enjoyed the atmosphere of the town’s historic Guildhall. Everyone dressed up for the occasion and some even hired stretched limousines so that they could arrive in style. Everyone who went really enjoyed themselves as you can see from the photographs:
Community Participation

Some of our students are actively getting involved in the local community and taking part in events and activities organised outside of the college. Some of our female students have joined a local dance class and are learning Latin steps plusa younger student, and very keen footballer, joined a local football team and plays regularly at weekends. Some students keen to earn extra pocket-money and also practice their English have undertaken part-time week-end employment in local shops, and restaurants. Several students also participate in voluntary work at local charity shops and in a old people’s home. We believe that students benefit from taking part in work experience and activities outside of the college. For our overseas students this is especially relevant to improve their English and integrate into British society and these experiences add to their UCAS university application. Universities are always very impressed by students who get involved with events and activities outside of school.

Summer School 2009 Places Available
There are still some places left on our Summer School programme for individual or group bookings. The course runs for six weeks over the summer and is aimed at individuals who wish to benefit from a professionally structured language course, balanced with social and cultural activities across the week. All of our programmes are managed by full-time staff within the college; group and individual bookings are available. We expect this year to be the best Summer School so far.

Bosworth also runs a popular activities afternoon that offers art, music and other leisure pursuits. These student activities are changing on a termly basis and now include:
Keep fit for girls
Table Tennis
5-a-side indoor football
We always encourage students to keep fit and healthy mentally, as well as physically,
as it helps them to concentrate in class and with their studies. Getting involved in these sorts of activities is a great break from class but also develops their team-building and social skills, and adapting to

Freaky snow
During February, 270 schools in Northamptonshire closed for a couple of days due to extreme weather conditions and heavy snow fall. We experienced around 15-20cm of snow which made driving conditions terrible and many flights to and from London Heathrow were cancelled.
For many of our students, it was a great day to relax and enjoy fresh snow – and many could experience it for the first time in their lives. For others, it was difficult to understand why
(Above) Students enjoyed the snow and got the chance to build their very own snowman!
